About the Artist
Artist Donna Asquith as featured in HOUSE & GARDEN Magazine
Drawing and other forms of artistic expression have always been a part of Donna Asquith’s life. Before turning her attentions to art full-time, she taught high school English in Massachusetts for thirty-one years while she and her husband raised their two sons. Eventually Donna moved on from teaching and concentrated her attentions on art, a loved occupation. She began a new career and took up watercolor painting in 2006. Creativity flourished.
Since 2008 when she sold her first watercolor, her dedication to painting has been rewarded. Her paintings have been in numerous international, national, and regional juried shows around the country. Her works hang on the walls of scores of art lovers who have bought her paintings. Donna’s other media include gouache and pastels, and in 2014 Donna began painting in acrylics; her watercolor experience is evident in her acrylic works. She enjoyed and benefited from her participation in a figure-drawing group of local artists who meet in York, Maine. Portraiture is a specialty. Galleries where her works have sold include Art on Centre, Fernandina, Florida; Barn Gallery, Ogunquit, Maine; 100 Market St. Gallery, Portsmouth, NH; Green Heron Gallery, Ogunquit, Maine; A Pleasant Shoppe, Portsmouth, NH; York Village Gallery in York, Maine; York Art Association, York, Maine. Donna is now part of a new gallery, The Atlantic Contemporary in Feranandina, FL. Donna paints every day and is thrilled by creative expression.
